Job Description:
The School Psychologist is responsible for the psychological assessment of students in the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral domains using standardized evaluations. The School Psychologist participates in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings and other problem-solving meetings with students, parents, staff, and others to design programs and services that address students’ social, emotional, and educational needs. The School Psychologist must also:
Participate as a member of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) and assist in the creation of MDT reports.
Conduct classroom observations, assessments, and evaluations of students.
Communicate with all appropriate parties regarding evaluation results, reports, and other special education information.
Participate as a member of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) Team and assist in the creation of IEPs.
Provide direct interventions and accommodations to students with disabilities.
Assist general education teachers in making classroom, lesson, and other appropriate modifications for students.
Consult and/or counsel students, school staff, and parents regarding academic and/or personal/social needs; provide information regarding community services available to students; make appropriate referrals regarding vocational and other needs of students.
Provide updates regarding student progress to all appropriate parties.
Draft and maintain education documents or reports as required or appropriate.
Establish a cooperative relationship with all assigned students.
Maintain open lines of communication with parents/guardians.
Plan, prepare, and deliver services to students with a range of abilities and disabilities.
Give appropriate feedback and maintain records of student progress and development.
Participate in and respond positively to the district’s evaluation and school improvement process.
Manage student behavior on school premises and apply appropriate and effective measures in cases of misbehavior.
Communicate with students, staff, and parents orally, electronically, and in printed form.
Use computers and other electronic technology to learn, teach, and communicate.
Work collaboratively to achieve the overall purposes of the school program.
Show good character, mental health, and emotional control.
Demonstrate tactfulness and a pleasant manner.
Demonstrate an open mind, tolerance, and poise.
Display a sense of humor.
Maintain positive relations and display enthusiasm with students, colleagues, parents, and other community members and groups.

Maintain appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
Maintain and secure any confidential records or inquiries.
Perform any other duty required by state or federal law or regulation.
