General Statement of Duties
• Strive to support the district’s mission, instructional goals, and objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Supervise students assigned to the STOP/ISS room.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of appropriate behavior. Maintain
discipline and ensure a safe environment for students and staff.
• Work in collaboration with school counselors and administration concerning student
problems and issues.
• Work in collaboration with classroom teachers and counselors to coordinate work
assignments for students while in behavioral room.
• Assist students in gaining an understanding of their behaviors and actions and the
consequences thereof through the use of worksheets and/or discussions. (ISS)
• Monitor student progress following completion of the ISS program, as deemed
necessary by the supervisor. (ISS)
• Schedule, attend and assign students to “Saturday” school. (ISS)
• Compose, type, and maintain routine correspondence, reports, assessments, and
various other materials and projects. Submit reports and documents as deemed
necessary.
• Operate various equipment to include photocopier, telephone, fax machine,
computer, calculator, educational equipment, etc.
• Attend meetings, training, and seminars as deemed appropriate and necessary by
the district.
• Work directly with highly sensitive student information. Maintain confidentiality of
work-related information.
• Perform all duties in compliance with safety standards established by the district.
• Due to the nature of the duties and to promote the efficient operations of the district,
it is necessary for the employee to work the assigned and scheduled shifts.
• Perform other duties as deemed appropriate and necessary.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Education and Experience
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals.
Skills and Abilities
• Write routine correspondence.
• Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Use basic math skills and computer skills.
• Deal with problems in standardized situations.
• Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule
form.
• Work well with students, public entities, educational professionals, etc.
• Successful completion of written tests and/or verbal interviews.
Certificates, Licenses, Examinations
• Evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted in accordance
with South Dakota Codified Law.
• Other such examinations as deemed necessary by district.
