Job Title: Early Childhood Special Education Teacher

Oahe Special Education Cooperative, based in Java, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children ages birth to 5 who have diverse learning needs. This role involves creating and implementing individualized education programs (IFSPs/IEPs) tailored to each student's unique requirements. The teacher will work collaboratively with families, caregivers, and a multidisciplinary team to support the development of each child's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills.

• IFSP/IEP Development: Design, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student in collaboration with parents, caregivers, and other educational professionals.
• Instruction: Deliver age-appropriate and differentiated instruction in various settings, including one-on-one, small groups, and classrooms.
• Assessment: Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other educators, specialists, and administrators to support student development and ensure consistency in educational practices.
• Family Engagement: Maintain regular communication with parents and caregivers to discuss student progress, challenges, and successes. Provide guidance on how to support learning at home.
• Behavior Management: Implement positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) to manage and improve student behavior.
• Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and early childhood education.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education or a related field.
• Certification: Valid state teaching license in Early Childhood Special Education.
• Experience: Previous experience working with young children in a special education setting is preferred but not required.
• Skills:
  • Strong understanding of child development and early childhood education practices.
  • Ability to create and implement individualized and differentiated lesson plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, creativity, and a passion for helping young children succeed.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and manage multiple responsibilities including paraprofessionals.
